Itinerary

Day 1 Hanoi

Greetings! Welcome to Hanoi, a city that seamlessly blends French colonial charm with vibrant Asian energy, adorned with enchanting lakes, picturesque pagodas, and bustling streets. Upon your arrival, our local representative will greet you and escort you to our designated hotel, granting you the rest of the day to unwind or venture out for exploration. For those arriving exceptionally early today or the preceding day, consider embarking on our optional Back Streets of Hanoi add-on. This unique experience delves into the charming neighborhoods of Cho Buoi, Hoang Hoa Tham, and Vinh Phuc, offering an exhilarating local adventure—riding pillion on taxi-motorbikes through a labyrinth of narrow streets and along the scenic Ho Tay Lake shoreline.

Day 2 Halong Bay

Hanoi – Halong Bay. We bid farewell to Hanoi and journey to the gem of Vietnam's picturesque landscape - the extraordinarily stunning Halong Bay. Step aboard a luxurious junk boat to cruise through the mesmerizing emerald waters of the bay, adorned with lush islets, and savor a delightful onboard lunch with panoramic views. In the afternoon, we explore Trinh Nu Cave, an exquisite cavern in Halong Bay, spanning 2,000m² and showcasing a breathtaking array of stalactites and stalagmites. The option for kayaking and a rejuvenating swim adds to the adventure. Later in the evening, back on the vessel, witness a Vietnamese cooking demonstration on the sundeck before indulging in a delectable seafood dinner.

Day 3 Caves & Hanoi cyclo ride

Halong Bay - Hanoi - Hue. Early risers can relish a stunning sunrise and engage in a Tai Chi session on the sundeck or indulge in a traditional massage—an ideal start to the day. Before returning to the port this morning, we venture into the enchanting Sung Sot cave (Surprise Grotto), an expansive 10,000m² space featuring two grand chambers large enough to accommodate numerous visitors. Upon our mid-afternoon arrival back in Hanoi, we embark on a cyclo (rickshaw) ride through the labyrinth of streets in the French Quarter, capturing the essence of landmarks like the Opera House and Ly Thai To Park. Transitioning from wheels to a leisurely stroll, we explore the '36 streets of the old quarter,' each named after various guilds that historically operated on a specific street, ranging from silk tailors to traditional medicine shops. Later in the evening, there's an opportunity to freshen up before boarding the overnight train (in a 4-berth sleeper cabin, basic standard) on the 'Reunification Express' railway line bound for Hue. An alternative option to fly from Hanoi to Hue is also available

Day 4 Hue

Arriving in the imperial city of Hue this morning, we partake in a guided sightseeing tour of the 19th-century capital. Explore the iconic Thien Mu Pagoda, boasting a 21-meter-tall tower, and wander through the walled fortress of the Imperial Purple Palace, encircled by a moat adorned with intricate arches and formidable ramparts, some of which bear the marks of time. Subsequently, we venture into the countryside to visit the ancient mausoleum of Emperor Tu Duc, one of the lavishly adorned Royal Tombs of the Nguyen kings. As evening descends, there is an optional sunset cruise on the Perfume River. Aboard a longboat, this provides a splendid opportunity to appreciate the city skyline.

Day 5 Hoi An

Hue - Coastal Journey via Hai Van Pass - Hoi An. Saying our goodbyes to Hue, we embark on a picturesque drive along the coastline through the Hai Van Pass (Road of the Ocean Clouds) en route to Hoi An. Along the way, we pause for a leisurely stroll along My Khe Beach, famously known as 'China Beach' during the war, featured in Francis Ford Coppola’s film 'Apocalypse Now.' Our arrival in the charming and historical town of Hoi An is scheduled for later this afternoon. A brief walking tour will acquaint you with the highlights of this captivating town, including the Chua Ong Pagoda, Chinese Assembly Hall, the 200-year-old Tam Ky House, former merchants’ residences, and the Japanese Covered Bridge, which boasts a history spanning 400 years. While staying in Hoi An, you have the option to enhance your experience with the unique Hoi An Street Eats add-on, offering an exploration of the city's popular local culinary spots. Cruise through the streets as the locals do, aboard vintage Vespas, savoring a variety of delicious Vietnamese dishes. To secure your spot, be sure to book early through your reservation consultant, as availability is limited.

Day 6 Rural Life in Vietnam

Today, our focus turns to the countryside as we delve into the rustic lifestyle of Vietnam. We'll pedal our way to Tra Que village, a serene journey along flat roads weaving through rice paddies and farmland. For those less inclined towards cycling, a local taxi option is at your disposal (additional cost may apply). Upon reaching the village, we'll actively engage in time-honored farming techniques, getting our hands dirty as we nurture the fields and gardens. Lunch will be a collaborative, home-cooked experience. In the afternoon, we'll make our way back to Hoi An, continuing the journey on our bicycles.

Day 7 Hoi An - at leisure

Today unfolds with complete freedom, allowing you to savor Hoi An at your own pace. Wander through the cobblestone streets adorned with charming boutique restaurants, trendy cafes, and delightful craft shops. Hoi An boasts some of Asia's finest bespoke tailors, offering their expertise at a reasonable cost. Should you desire relaxation, bask in the serenity of the hotel pool or venture to the nearby beach. Alternatively, consider an excursion to the UNESCO-listed My Son sanctuary or embark on a day trip to the renowned Ba Na Hills mountain resort. Here, you'll experience the world's second-longest cable car ride and stroll across the remarkable Golden Bridge (arrangements made on-site).

Day 8 Hoi An

Saturday signifies the conclusion of your Vietnam journey. A departure transfer will be arranged to transport you to Danang airport, ensuring you reach there in time for your next flight.

Tour's Location

Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hue, Hoi An
Tay Ho Temple - ✅ Tay Ho Temple – Discover the Spiritual Heart of West Lake, Hanoi (Updated for 2025) 🌸📍 Location: End of Dang Thai Mai Street, Tay Ho Peninsula, Hanoi🕒 Opening Hours: Daily, from dawn to dusk💰 Entrance: Free 🌿 Introduction: Where Legends and Tranquility Meet Nestled at the very tip of the Tay Ho Peninsula, surrounded by the shimmering waters of West Lake (Hồ Tây), stands Tay Ho Temple (Phủ Tây Hồ) — one of the most revered spiritual sites in Hanoi. Despite being just a short distance from the city’s bustling center, this sacred temple offers a peaceful retreat filled with myths, devotion, and poetic beauty. 🌺 For centuries, Tay Ho Temple has been a place where Hanoi’s locals come to seek blessings, success, and serenity. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a culture lover, or simply a traveler in search of calm, this lakeside shrine will captivate your heart with its mystical aura and timeless charm. 🕊️ The Legend of Thanh Mau – The Mother Goddess Tay Ho Temple is dedicated to Thanh Mau (Mother Goddess Liễu Hạnh), one of the most beloved deities in Vietnam’s Đạo Mẫu (Mother Goddess Worship) — a spiritual practice recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2016. 🌸 According to legend, in the 17th century, a distinguished scholar once went boating on West Lake when he encountered a radiant young woman. She was graceful, mysterious, and spoke in elegant poetry. Before he could learn her name, she smiled, recited a final verse, and vanished into the mist. 🌬️ Only later did the scholar realize that she was Liễu Hạnh, the reincarnated daughter of the Jade Emperor — a celestial goddess who descended to earth to experience human life. To honor her divine presence, villagers built a temple at the exact spot where she appeared. Since then, Tay Ho Temple has stood as a symbol of feminine power, wisdom, and compassion. 🏯 Architecture and Atmosphere Tay Ho Temple’s architecture beautifully reflects the elegance of traditional Vietnamese design — layered roofs adorned with dragon motifs, intricate carvings, and altars glowing with red and gold hues. The temple complex is surrounded by ancient banyan trees and shaded courtyards where incense smoke swirls in the breeze, creating an atmosphere of peace and reverence. 🌳 Inside, the main hall is devoted to Mother Goddess Liễu Hạnh, surrounded by offerings of flowers, fruits, and candles. Smaller shrines within the complex honor other deities of the Four Palaces — representing Heaven, Earth, Water, and Mountains — an integral belief system of Mother Goddess worship. If you visit during quiet hours, you’ll hear only the sounds of temple bells and rustling leaves, a peaceful contrast to Hanoi’s energetic streets. 🎉 Festivals and Worship Traditions On the 1st and 15th days of each lunar month, Tay Ho Temple comes alive with a vibrant, festive atmosphere. Locals gather to offer incense, burn votive paper, and pray for good fortune in business, love, and family. Vendors line the road leading up to the temple, selling colorful flowers, paper offerings, and local snacks — creating a carnival-like spirit that reflects Hanoi’s deep-rooted traditions. ✨ Pro Tip: Visit during the Mother Goddess Festival (Phủ Tây Hồ Festival), which typically takes place in March or April (the 3rd lunar month). The celebration features folk music, spiritual trance performances, and traditional costumes, offering an unforgettable glimpse into Vietnamese cultural heritage. At other times of the year, the temple is much quieter — a serene place to meditate, light incense, or simply enjoy the lake’s tranquil view. 🙏 What to Expect When Visiting Visitors to Tay Ho Temple are encouraged to show respect for the sacred site and local customs: 👗 Dress modestly: Avoid shorts, tank tops, or revealing clothes. 🕯️ Bring small offerings: Flowers, fruit, or incense sticks are appreciated. 💸 Donations: Free entry, but small contributions help maintain the temple. 📸 Photography: Be discreet; always ask before taking pictures inside the shrines. You’ll notice many visitors — especially women and young people — lighting incense under the banyan trees or burning joss paper money (symbolic offerings) to wish for prosperity and success. 🌅 The Setting: A Temple on the Water The temple’s location is part of its magic. Standing at the end of Dang Thai Mai Street, Tay Ho Temple overlooks the vast West Lake, offering breathtaking views — especially at sunset. As the sky turns shades of pink and gold, the reflection of the temple shimmers on the water, creating a scene that feels almost otherworldly. 🌇 Nearby, you’ll find cozy lakeside cafés and restaurants where you can relax with a cup of Vietnamese coffee after your visit. The serene landscape, combined with the spiritual atmosphere, makes this one of the most photogenic and peaceful spots in Hanoi. 🧭 Travel Tips for 2025 Visitors ✨ Getting There:Tay Ho Temple is about 20 minutes from Hanoi’s Old Quarter by taxi or motorbike. The route along Thanh Nien and Nghi Tam offers scenic views of West Lake. 🚶 Combine Your Visit:You can plan a cultural route including Tran Quoc Pagoda, Quan Thanh Temple, and Kim Lien Pagoda — all located nearby around West Lake. 🌸 Best Time to Visit:Early morning for peaceful reflection or late afternoon for the stunning sunset. 🥤 Nearby Spots:After visiting, stop by Maison de Tet Decor or Santorini Vibes Café for lakeside coffee, or try local snacks like bánh tôm Hồ Tây (crispy shrimp fritters) — a signature Hanoi delicacy. 💫 Why Tay Ho Temple Belongs on Your Hanoi Itinerary Tay Ho Temple is more than just a religious site — it’s a living cultural treasure that connects ancient legend, spirituality, and everyday life in Hanoi. Here, stories from centuries ago continue to resonate through the sound of bells, the scent of incense, and the reflection of temple roofs dancing on West Lake’s surface. Visiting Tay Ho Temple allows you to experience the soul of Hanoi — a city that harmoniously blends the sacred and the modern, the mystical and the...Kim Lien Pagoda - ✅ Kim Lien Pagoda – A Hidden Gem of Tranquility Beside West Lake, Hanoi (Updated 2025) 🌸📍 Address: Off Nghi Tam Street, Tay Ho District, Hanoi🕒 Opening Hours: Daily, from dawn to dusk💰 Entrance: Free for all visitors 🌿 Discovering the Peaceful Kim Lien Pagoda Tucked quietly along Nghi Tam Street, just about one kilometer north of Thanh Nien Causeway, Kim Lien Pagoda (Chùa Kim Liên) is one of Hanoi’s most serene and culturally rich Buddhist sites. Despite being surrounded by modern landmarks like the luxurious InterContinental Hanoi Westlake, this ancient pagoda remains a peaceful sanctuary, echoing centuries of spiritual devotion. Many visitors to Hanoi often overlook Kim Lien in favor of more famous attractions such as Tran Quoc Pagoda or Quan Thanh Temple, yet those who take the time to stop here are rewarded with a sense of calm and authenticity that feels worlds away from the city’s bustling rhythm. 🌺 🏯 A Glimpse into the Past The exact origins of Kim Lien Pagoda are somewhat shrouded in mystery, but historical records trace its roots back to the 18th century, when it was reconstructed on the foundations of an even older temple. The pagoda’s current form, characterized by its elegant red-tiled roofs, intricate wood carvings, and unplastered brick walls, reflects the classical architectural style of Vietnam’s Le–Nguyen dynasties. These unplastered brick walls are not just a stylistic choice—they tell a story of resilience and timelessness. Unlike many pagodas that have undergone modernization, Kim Lien retains its original texture and craftsmanship, preserving the atmosphere of Hanoi’s spiritual past. 🪷 Architectural Harmony As you step through the small side gate (often the only one open to visitors), you’ll immediately notice the harmonious balance between simplicity and refinement that defines Kim Lien’s design. The roofs curve gracefully upward, their ends adorned with dragon motifs—symbols of protection and prosperity in Vietnamese culture. Inside, the wooden beams and altars feature intricate carvings of lotus flowers, clouds, and mythical creatures, all hand-carved by artisans more than two centuries ago. The warm tones of aged wood, combined with the natural light filtering through small windows, create a meditative atmosphere ideal for quiet reflection. 🌅 A Peaceful Escape from the City Kim Lien Pagoda remains one of the least crowded temples in Hanoi, making it perfect for visitors seeking tranquility. Unlike the bustling Tran Quoc Pagoda nearby, you can often find yourself alone in the courtyard, listening to the soft sound of temple bells and the rustle of leaves from ancient trees. During early morning or late afternoon, the sunlight dances off the pagoda’s orange tiles, giving the entire complex a golden glow—a photographer’s dream! 📸 If you visit around Lunar New Year (Tet) or during Buddhist holidays, you’ll see local worshippers offering incense and flowers, filling the temple with color and fragrance. These moments offer a glimpse into the enduring spiritual life of Hanoi’s residents. 💡 Travel Tips for 2025 Visitors ✨ Best Time to Visit:Early morning or late afternoon for cooler temperatures and softer lighting. 🧘 Dress Code:As with all pagodas in Vietnam, please wear modest clothing—avoid shorts or sleeveless tops. 🚲 How to Get There:Kim Lien Pagoda is easily accessible by motorbike, taxi, or even bicycle if you’re exploring the West Lake area. It’s located just 10 minutes from the Old Quarter and a short distance from Tran Quoc Pagoda, making it an ideal stop on a cultural sightseeing route. 🎟️ Entrance Fee:Free, but donations for temple maintenance are always appreciated. 🌸 Why Kim Lien Pagoda Deserves Your Visit in 2025 In a city that’s rapidly modernizing, Kim Lien Pagoda stands as a living reminder of Hanoi’s spiritual heritage. It embodies the quiet strength and artistry of traditional Vietnamese Buddhism—humble yet profound. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a photographer, or simply someone seeking a peaceful moment by the lake, Kim Lien Pagoda offers an experience that’s both authentic and soul-soothing. 🌼 Take a slow walk through its gates, light an incense stick, and let the calm wash over you. In the stillness of Kim Lien, you’ll feel what makes Hanoi so special—a timeless harmony between the sacred and the everyday. 📍 Quick Info Recap Name: Kim Lien Pagoda (Chùa Kim Liên) Location: Off Nghi Tam Street, Tay Ho District, Hanoi Hours: Open daily, dawn to dusk Entrance Fee: Free Highlights: Eighteenth-century architecture, red-tiled roofs, peaceful atmosphere, unplastered brick design
