We head west on our motorbikes towards Mai Chau, an area renowned for its picturesque landscapes and being the abode of the Thai ethnic minority. Riding along Highway 6, we traverse vast farming lands adorned with expansive paddy fields, intersected by tree-lined roads, all against the backdrop of limestone karst scenery. Following a light lunch in Hoa Binh Province, our route takes us through Thung Khe, a breathtaking mountain pass that graces North Vietnam with its beauty. We then descend into the mountain valley settlement of Mai Chau. After a satisfying dinner, we partake in a cultural performance, engaging in lively dance and sharing in the enjoyment of special local liquors, including rice wine, with the hospitable locals. Overnight accommodation is provided in a traditional Thai house-on-stilts. Summary: Distance: 160 km Meals: Lunch, Dinner
Day 2

Day 2: MAI CHAU TO PHU YEN (SON LA) – OFFROAD MOTORCYCLE TOUR TO TRIBAL VILLAGES

Mai Chau stands out as one of the closest places to Hanoi where an authentic Montagnard village experience awaits. In the morning, embark on a brief stroll around the village to immerse yourself in the local way of life. The side comes alive early, with a flurry of activity unfolding by sunrise. The skilled Thai women, renowned for their mastery of weaving, showcase their artistry under or inside their village homes, offering a variety of traditional-style clothing for purchase in the village center. Witness the women at their looms, creating intricate pieces of handmade traditional clothing, knives, or cross-bows. Following a satisfying breakfast at the home-stay, bid farewell to the villagers and depart from Mai Chau. Embark on an offroad journey through Hang Kia – Pa Co, leading to Van Ho in Son La province. This route unveils stunning landscapes featuring wildflowers, terraced fields of corn and bananas, and picturesque villages with traditional huts. Proceed in the direction of Moc Chau, where a delectable lunch awaits. Moc Chau, a highland town renowned for producing some of Vietnam's finest tea, provides an opportunity to stock up on this local specialty. The surrounding area is home to various ethnic minorities, including Green H'mong, Dzao, Thai, and Muong. Notably, Moc Chau boasts a pioneering dairy industry that emerged in the late 1970s with Australian and UN assistance. The dairy contributes to Hanoi's supply of delightful treats such as fresh milk, sweetened condensed milk, and toothsome bars known as "Banh sua." After lunch, navigate the less-traveled Road 43 leading to the Da River. Cross the Da River reservoir at Van Yen ferry, then traverse a scenic winding secondary road until reaching Phu Yen, where accommodations are provided in a basic guest-house. Recognized as a national heritage by the ministry, Lung Lo Pass is located in the northern province of Yen Bai. As we enter Lao Cai Province at an elevation of over 2,000m, panoramic views unfold over the expansive main range, stretching for miles and miles. The descent takes us to the mountainous Sa Pa valley, situated in Lao Cai Province, northwest Vietnam, approximately 350 km northwest of Hanoi and in proximity to the border with China. Renowned for its rugged, picturesque landscapes and cultural diversity, Sa Pa held the title of the Summer Capital of Northern Vietnam in the early decades of the 20th century according to the French. Take a break and relish a lunch in a local dwelling. Following the meal, continue riding along a hilly trail through a bamboo forest, reaching Giang Ta Chai, Thanh Phu, and Ban Ho villages, where the Red Dao ethnic minority resides. En route, consider stopping at a small waterfall to rest, capture photographs, and gain insights into the agricultural techniques employed by the hill tribes on their terraced fields. Upon departing the village, descend to a suspension bridge before ascending to the main road. From there, you can continue riding to Topas Ecolodge, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee and witness clouds drifting overhead, before returning to Sapa. Savor your coffee while relishing the scenic view extending into China. Travel along Road 70 before making a turn onto Road 152 towards Luc Yen. We journey through a palm forest, tracing the path via Luc Yen to the village of our Dao friends, Vu Linh, situated alongside Thac Ba Lake, Vietnam's largest artificial lake. Thac Ba Lake sprawls across an area of 23,400 hectares, adorned with 1,331 islands and hills, each hosting diverse ecological environments. The landscape during harvest time transforms into a vibrant sea of activity. Crossing the Black River via a bridge, our path takes us through Son Tay before making our way back to Hanoi on the highway. Day 3: BAC HA MOTORBIKE TOUR TO HA GIANG VIA HOANG SU PHI

Begin the day by exploring the vibrant and lively market of Bac Ha, renowned as one of the most captivating ethnic markets in Vietnam and possibly all of Southeast Asia. Sundays transform Bac Ha into a bustling gathering where local ethnic groups converge to exchange news, engage in gossip, shop, and savor a hearty lunch. The atmosphere is undoubtedly festive. Our journey continues towards Ha Giang, passing through Xin Ma and Hoang Su Phi. The route is adorned with picturesque curves, providing a delightful ride. Tonight's stay is in Ha Giang. Hoang Su Phi's terraced rice fields are a highlight of this region, recognized as National Heritage in 2012. Day 4

Day 4: HA GIANG MOTORBIKE TRIPS TO DONG VAN

Today's ride promises to be a highlight of the journey, showcasing one of the most enchanting regions for Vietnam Motorcycle Tours. We will venture into one of Vietnam's remotest lands, characterized by diverse ethnic groups, unique cultures, and majestic mountains. Our route includes the awe-inspiring "Heaven Gate" in Quan Ba, the striking Rock Plateau, and the historical Vuong Palace in Dong Van. The overnight stay is in Dong Van. Accommodation: Khai Hoan Hotel Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Distance: 145 km, 5 hours riding Quan Ba Heaven Gate: Situated approximately 1,500m above sea level, this marks the entrance to Dong Van Plateau. The road leading to Quan Ba Heaven Gate winds through limestone mountains, offering panoramic views of vast terraced fields in a valley—a picturesque sight resembling a paradise shrouded in clouds. Dong Van Plateau: Located north of Ha Giang, near the Sino-Vietnamese border, this plateau is dominated by karst mountains. Dong Van is an excellent destination for trekking and mountain climbing, challenging adventurers with its grandiose peaks. The plateau also offers breathtaking landscapes and opportunities to engage with local ethnic minorities, gaining insights into their life stories—a unique experience found nowhere else in the world. Hmong King Palace: Found in Xa Phin Village of Dong Van District, approximately 24 km from the district center, this palace covers an area of 1120 m². Built in the early twentieth century, its architectural design forms the shape of the Chinese character "王" (meaning "king" in English). Serving as both a historical relic and a remarkable architectural landmark of local ethnic groups, the palace draws the interest of many visitors. Dong Van Old Town: Nestled in a valley surrounded by rocks, this quarter was established in the early 20th century and initially inhabited by H’mong, Tay, and Chinese families. Over time, more local residents settled here. The oldest house, built by the Luong family, dates back to 1860. The prevalent architecture features two-story houses with yin and yang roofs. The lifestyle and daily activities of ethnic groups such as Kinh, Tay, Mong, Hoa, etc., provide a captivating glimpse into their unique way of life.
Day 5

Day 5: VIETNAM MOTORBIKE TOUR TO HA GIANG VIA THAC BA, BAC HA, BA BE: DONG VAN MOTORCYCLE TOUR TO BAO LAC

Following breakfast, take the opportunity to explore Dong Van street. If your visit coincides with a Sunday, don't miss the chance to immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of the weekly market in Dong Van. This lively marketplace brings together various ethnic groups showcasing their local products. The market transforms into a festive hub where locals gather to socialize, converse, and enjoy drinks. Continue the journey towards Bao Lac via Meo Vac, with the Ma Pi Leng Pass standing out as a key highlight. Conquering the Ma Pi Leng Pass is an adventurous feat, and upon reaching the destination, settle into a guesthouse in Bao Lac. Ma Pi Leng Pass: The road through this pass is challenging, but a stop offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the province. The scenery along Ma Pi Leng Pass is unparalleled, characterized by majestic and untouched beauty. To the north and northeast, a vast expanse of gray mountains stretches to the horizon. Beyond Ma Pi Leng, a mountain with a height of 2,000 meters marks the 'Happiness' road connecting Ha Giang, Dong Van, and Meo Vac town. Meo Vac Town: Nestled in a compact valley surrounded by rocky mountains, Meo Vac is a captivating destination. The journey to Meo Vac, particularly along the spectacular Mai Pi Leng Pass, is an attraction in itself. The town is home to diverse ethnic minority groups, including the H’mong, Kinh, Tay, Dao, and more. Each ethnic group has preserved its culture, largely untouched by external influences. Accommodation: Thuy Duong Hotel in Bao Lac, Cao Bang Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Distance: 100 km, 4 hours riding
Day 6

Day 6: VIETNAM MOTORBIKE TOUR TO HA GIANG VIA THAC BA, BAC HA, BA BE: BAO LAC MOTORCYCLE TOUR TO BA BE LAKE VIA MEO VAC TOWN

Today, our journey leads us to Ba Be Lake and National Park, where the scenery is nothing short of spectacular. Upon arrival, you have the freedom to indulge in leisurely activities such as a boat trip or a stroll to explore the Tay people's village. Spend the night in the welcoming homestay of a Tay family. Ba Bể Lake: Translating to "Three Lakes" in the local Tay language, Ba Bể Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake, extending approximately 8 kilometers in a north-south direction. The lake's surface area varies between 3 and 5 km², fluctuating with the seasons. Remarkably, unlike many lakes in Karst limestone regions, Ba Bê Lake never dries up. With an average depth ranging between 17 and 23 meters and a maximum depth of 35 meters, it stands as Vietnam's highest lake, positioned about 150 meters above sea level. The name "Three Lakes" originates from the three parts of the lake: Pe Leng, Pe Lu, and Pe Lam. Although distinct, these three parts seamlessly merge into a continuous body of water. The lake receives contributions from the Ta Han, Bo Lu, and Leng Rivers from the south and west. In the dry season, water flows northwards from the lake into the Nang River. Conversely, during the wet season's high floods, this flow is reversed, with the lake drawing water from the Nang River, serving as a vital buffer that regulates flooding. Accommodation: Hoang Nguyen Homestay Address: Pác Ngòi, Ba Be, Bac Kan Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Distance: 150 km
Day 7

Day 7: MOTORBIKE TOUR TO HA GIANG VIA THAC BA, BAC HA, BA BE: BA BE LAKE MOTORBIKE TOUR BACK TO HANOI

This morning, we'll journey back to our office and arrange your transfer to the hotel. We trust that your Vietnam Motorbike Tour experience with us has been delightful, and we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to welcome you on your next Vietnam motorcycle adventure. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch Distance: 230 km, 7 hours riding
