Day 2: Sapa - Y Linh Ho - Lao Chai - Ta Van - Homestay (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) Upon early arrival at Lao Cai Station, you'll be greeted and taken on an hour-long shared minivan journey uphill to Sapa. After refreshing and enjoying breakfast at a local restaurant, you'll travel 6 kilometers along the main road to a picturesque starting point for your village trek. This trail offers stunning vistas of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range's highest peaks, with the possibility of catching sight of Fansipan Peak on clear days. Crossing the river via a suspension bridge, you'll embark on an uphill trek to Y Linh Ho village, engaging with H'mong families and observing their daily routines. Following a picnic lunch, the trail undulates for approximately 2 hours until reaching Lao Chai, a sizeable H'mong village. Continuing along the riverbank, you'll arrive at Ta Van, home to the Zay people. Here, explore local residences, village schools, and immerse yourself in the cultural tapestry of ethnic communities amid the breathtaking backdrop of the Muong Hoa Valley. Spend tonight experiencing a unique homestay in Ta Van Village. Night 2: Overnight stay at a homestay in Ta Van Village
Day 3

Day 3: Ta Van - Giang Ta Chai - Su Pan - Ban Ho ( B,L,D)

Departing from Ta Van village post-breakfast, you'll traverse the uphill footpath, unveiling impressive terraced rice fields lining the hill slopes. Progressing through a bamboo forest and past a grand waterfall, you'll reach Giang Ta Chai village, home to the Red Zao people. Stroll through the village, encountering women engrossed in their embroidery work crafting traditional attire. You might catch glimpses of blacksmiths fashioning agricultural tools or crafting hunting rifles. After crossing the Muong Hoa river once more, ascend towards Su Pan village, passing a rock field with enigmatic carvings believed to carry ancient messages. Witness the distinct technique used to construct homes on the steep rocky terrain in Su Pan village. Descend from Su Pan, trekking downhill for an hour until Ban Ho valley unfolds before you. Day 4

Day 4: Ban Ho - Nam Toong - My Son ( B,L,D)

Following breakfast, we dedicate an hour to exploring Ban Ho, an expansive village inhabited by the Tay people residing in capacious wooden houses constructed on stilts, showcasing exceptional organization. Then, we ascend uphill towards Nam Toong village, occupied by the Red Zao community. While the trail in this segment proves steep, the higher you ascend, the more breathtaking the scenery unfolds before you. Perched atop a hill, Nam Toong village remains almost secluded, its rudimentary houses offering a warm welcome from its inhabitants. Beyond Nam Toong, the trail winds up and down hill slopes for an hour, leading to Nam Keng and My Son, two diminutive villages inhabited by the Xa Pho ethnic group, numbering only about 4000 individuals in Vietnam. Predominantly reliant on forest gathering, hunting, and practicing slash-and-burn agriculture, the Xa Pho live a primitive lifestyle. Each family here constructs a small stilt house away from their main dwelling to safeguard their food and valuable possessions from potential fires. Your overnight stay will be in this village. Night 4: Homestay overnight
Day 5

Day 5: My Son - Thanh Phu - Sapa ( B,L,D)

Departing from this humble village, trek downhill toward the river for a crossing, followed by another uphill stretch leading to Thanh Phu, an additional Tay village where you'll have approximately two hours to explore before Lunch. In the afternoon, resume trekking for a few hours along the return route, offering a panoramic view of Ban Ho valley before being picked up for a jeep ride back to Sapa. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel, and the rest of your evening is at leisure. Night 5: Overnight at a simple hotel in Sapa Town
Day 6

Afterward, continue your walk from the market to the church and ascend Ham Rong Mountain's summit. There, you can visit an orchid garden and a small museum that showcases the ethnic peoples of the Northwest. Later in the afternoon, around 3 PM, you'll be picked up by a minivan and taken to the bus departure point for your journey back to Hanoi, arriving at around 10 PM.

Tour Overview

Day 1

Day 1: HANOI MOTORCYCLE TOURS TO MAI CHAU (HOA BINH)

Embark on our motorbike journey, departing from Hanoi at approximately 9 am. To navigate through the bustling traffic, we opt for dyke roads, heading westward towards Mai Chau, an enchanting region characterized by picturesque landscapes and inhabited by the Thai ethnic minority. Our motorcycle route along Highway 6 unfolds amidst expansive farming lands, featuring a mosaic of paddy fields intersected by tree-lined roads and adorned with limestone karst scenery. Following a light lunch in Hoa Binh Province, we traverse Thung Khe, acknowledged as one of the most stunning mountain passes in North Vietnam. The descent brings us to the mountain valley settlement of Mai Chau. After enjoying dinner, partake in a lively performance where you can dance and indulge in a variety of special liquors, including rice wine, with the local residents. Spend the night in a traditional stilt-house belonging to the Thai people. Summary: Distance: 160 km Meals: Lunch, Dinner Accommodation: Overnight stay in a village homestay.
Day 2

Day 2: MAI CHAU MOTORCYCLE TOURS TO PHU YEN (SON LA) – OFFROAD MOTORBIKE TOURS TO TRIBAL VILLAGES

Mai Chau stands out as one of the nearest destinations to Hanoi, offering an authentic experience in a Montagnard village. In the morning, embark on a brief stroll around the village to immerse yourself in local life. Life in the rural areas begins early, and the morning sunrise unveils a plethora of activities. The adept Thai women, skilled weavers, ensure an abundance of traditional-style clothing available for purchase in the village center. Witness women working on looms under or inside their houses, presenting an opportunity to acquire handmade traditional-style clothing, knives, or crossbows. Following breakfast at the homestay, bid farewell to the villagers, departing from Mai Chau around 10 am. Ride from Mai Chau towards Moc Chau, where a delightful lunch awaits. This highland town is renowned for producing some of Vietnam's finest tea, making it an ideal spot for stocking up. The surrounding area is home to various ethnic minorities, including the Green H'mong, Dzao, Thai, and Muong. Moc Chau takes pride in its groundbreaking dairy industry, initiated in the late 1970s with assistance from Australia and later the United Nations. The dairy sector supplies Hanoi with delectable luxuries such as fresh milk, sweetened condensed milk, and tempting tooth-rotting bars known as "Banh sua." Post-lunch, venture onto the less-traveled Road 43, leading to the Da River. Cross the reservoir of Da River at Van Yen ferry, and proceed along a picturesque winding secondary road until reaching Phu Yen, a quaint mountain town in Son La Province. Accommodations for the night are provided in a basic guesthouse. Summary: Distance: 140 km Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Accommodation: Guesthouse
Day 3

Day 3: PHU YEN MOTORCYCLE TOURS TO VU LINH VILLAGE (THAC BA LAKE, YEN BAI)

As dawn breaks, we embark on a motorcycle journey traversing the historic Lung Lo Pass before ascending on Road 32. This 15km-long pass, vital during the First Indochina War, served as a lifeline for the Vietnamese resistance, facilitating the transport of weapons, goods, and food during the 1954 Dien Bien Phu campaign. The pass endured significant bombardment by the French, aiming to sever front lines from the rear. Designated as a national heritage by the ministry, Lung Lo Pass, nestled in the northern province of Yen Bai, bears testament to the nation's wartime resilience. Continuing our motorbike expedition, we progress along well-paved roads through renowned tea plantations, where hillsides are blanketed with endless rows of tea shrubs. Our journey leads us to the city of Yen Bai, nestled along the banks of the Red River. From Yen Bai, a brief ride brings us to the enchanting Thac Ba Lake, formed by a hydroelectric dam constructed in the 1970s. Riding further, we reach the Dao village of Vu Linh, where warm Dao hospitality awaits. The evening unfolds with an unforgettable dinner, hosted by sociable villagers known for their exuberant celebrations. Brace yourself for an exceptional welcome, as you immerse in the unique cultural experience of Dao homestay. Overnight in homestay. Summary: Distance: 180 km Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Accommodation: Homestay
Day 4

Day 4: THAC BA MOTORCYCLE TOURS TO BA BE NATIONAL PARK (BAC KAN) – OFFROAD MOTORBIKE TOURS TO TRIBAL VILLAGES

As the sun graces the sky, we embark on a scenic motorcycle journey, traversing Tan Trao and Cho Chu. Nestled amidst mountains and jungles in Son Duong District, Tan Trao Historic Site emerges as a testament to its role as a pivotal resistance base before the August 1945 Revolution. This serene valley witnessed the historic Indochina Communist Party National Congress on August 13, 1945. It was during this assembly in Tan Trao that the foundational policies of Vietminh were crafted, culminating in the election of a temporary government led by Ho Chi Minh. Our route leads us to the Cho Chu Monuments prison, perched on a hill near Chu Cho township, Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen province. Established in 1889 following French occupation, the prison served as a stronghold for the ruling agents until 1945. Through the years, Cho Chu Monuments prison evolved into a poignant symbol of the unwavering dedication and sacrifices made by revolutionary soldiers in the pursuit of the country's independence and freedom. Continuing our enchanting motorcycle journey, we traverse the captivating road through Ba Be National Park, ultimately reaching our homestay in Bac Ngoi village. Nestled within the scenic embrace of Ba Be National Park, our homestay in Tay's family offers a tranquil haven by the shores of Ba Be Lake, promising a picturesque and peaceful retreat. Summary: Distance: 190 km Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Accommodation: Homestay
Day 5

Day 5: BOAT RIDE ON BA BE LAKE AND MOTORCYCLE TOURS TO NA KHAN (BAC KAN)

Embark on a mesmerizing half-day boat excursion across the lake to the opposite shore, where the enchanting Dau Dang waterfall on the Nang River awaits exploration. Recognized as one of the 27 ASEAN heritage gardens, Ba Be unfolds its allure to nature enthusiasts, boasting a pristine 450-hectare freshwater lake and a rich biodiversity that includes 553 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish. Delving into the geological history, a survey conducted by the Vietnam Institute of Geo-sciences and Mineral Resources reveals that over 11,000 years ago, a seismic event triggered the subterranean collapse of the Nang River. This natural occurrence gave rise to a spontaneous dam formation, ultimately shaping the breathtaking landscape of Ba Be Lake. Savor a delightful lunch in a nearby village nestled by the Dau Dang waterfall before returning to our homestay. Mount our bikes and embark on a scenic half-day ride through the countryside, arriving at Na Khan, a secluded Nung village seemingly in the heart of nowhere. This final leg of our journey provides a unique opportunity to partake in the authentic local experience of sharing meals and accommodation with the welcoming residents. Summary: Distance: 80 km Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Accommodation: Homestay
Day 6

Day 6: NA KHAN MOTORCYCLE TOURS TO HANOI

Embark on a leisurely morning motorbike journey, traversing serene villages and picturesque rice fields. As the day unfolds, we encounter a more bustling road scene in the afternoon. The traffic intensifies on the return leg to Hanoi via Road 3, progressively becoming more congested. To avoid the rush hour, we aim to conclude our exploration by around 4 pm. We then embark on a motorcycle journey straight to Sa Pa town. Positioned in Lao Cai Province, northwest Vietnam, and approximately 350 km from Hanoi, Sa Pa is in close proximity to the Chinese border. Renowned for its breathtaking and rugged landscapes, as well as its diverse cultural heritage, Sa Pa holds historical significance. While savoring your coffee, soak in the panoramic view extending towards China. Proceed towards Road 70 before turning onto Road 153, leading to Bac Ha. Often hailed as the weekend retreat compared to Sapa, Bac Ha may lack the dramatic backdrop of its more renowned counterpart, but it offers a tranquil atmosphere, particularly on Saturdays. The town comes alive on Sunday mornings when visitors gather to interact with the Flower H'mong at the vibrant Bac Ha Market. In contrast to Sapa, Bac Ha is still in the early stages of tourism development, contributing to a more serene ambiance during the weekdays. Situated around 900m above sea level, it boasts a milder climate than Sapa. Bac Ha thrives as a hub for the production of homemade alcoholic beverages, including rice wine, cassava wine, and corn liquor. The potent corn hooch crafted by the Flower H'mong is so robust that it can be ignited! Bac Ha stands as the exclusive locale in Vietnam for this distinctive moonshine, with a dedicated section at the Sunday market. Enjoy an overnight stay in Bac Ha. Summary: Distance: 120 km Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Accommodation: Home-stay
Day 4

Ascend the Ma Pi Leng Pass, an awe-inspiring location featuring cloud-kissed mountain ranges and the poetic Nho Que River meandering gracefully in the distance. Words struggle to capture the exact essence of Ma Pi Leng Pass, nestled between Dong Van and Meo Vac near Vietnam's northernmost tip. It unfolds like a breathtaking painting, captivating the gaze of all beholders and nature enthusiasts. Navigate a zigzagging trail until reaching Vuong Family's Residence, situated 14 kilometers before Dong Van. The Vuong Family, revered as the Hmong People's King in Dong Van, Ha Giang, constructed their residence in the picturesque Sa Phin Valley, showcasing Chinese architectural influences. Crafted entirely from wood and rock, with the stones imported from China, Vuong Family Residence stands as a testament to human artistry in the heavenly beauty of Sa Phin Valley. Venturing into this remote area, encounter the resilient local residents whose hard work and determination enable them to thrive amidst the rocky terrain. This area shares its border with Dong Van District in Ha Giang Province and Bao Lam District in Cao Bang Province.
